Celebrate National Pet Day With Your Pup

Have you heard? April 11th is National Pet Day. It's a holiday that even some of the most engaged dog owners are unaware of — much to the disappointment of dogs worldwide. But we know you love any excuse to celebrate and have a little fun with your pooch, so let's talk about a few ways you can do just that.

1. Do Something Your Dog Loves

Would you say that your dog has a unique personality? Of course, you would! Some dogs like going for car rides. Some are most content with a quiet evening at home on your lap. Think about what your pup loves more than anything in the world. Now go do it!

2. Get Your Dog a Gift

Gifts are a pretty safe bet for most holidays, and National Pet Day is no exception. This can be treats, new toys, or even dog clothes. Whatever you think will thrill them the most. If you're crafty, you can even try making them something yourself. Just check out some of these DIY dog toys.

3. Go on a Trip

Have the day off and want to make national pet day REALLY special? Turn it into a day trip. This is especially great if you have an active dog. A day trip to the mountains or the beach will show them how much you care and tire them out at the same time. Everybody wins.

4. Take Lots of Pictures

Is it even really a holiday if you don't take tons of pictures? Plus, you just know that your dog loves hamming it up for photos. Dress up. Dress down. Make funny faces. Whatever you do, these pictures will serve as constant reminders of how much you love your dog and how much they love you. That's what National Pet Day is really all about.

5. Head to the Dog Park

You can bet that most dog parks will be full of pups eager to play on National Pet Day. If that sounds like the kind of thing that your dog would love, then you should join them. Just remember to be safe and keep a close eye on your dog.

6. Do Some Good

National Pet Day isn't just about your dog. It's about cherished pets all over the world. So why not take the day to do some good for others? There are actually several ways that you can volunteer with your dog.

Those are just a few of the fun, safe ways that you can celebrate National Pet Day with your dog. Hopefully, this has at least given you some ideas, but if you think up some great holiday activities on your own then that's all the better. Remember, the most important thing you can do on National Pet Day is to show your dog some love. Don't worry too much if you can't afford to make it a blowout holiday. Just have fun and be safe!
